Good morning!
Report cards have been published to School Speak. You will all be moving on to second grade! Congratulations! I will print them and mail them to you next week, stating that on the promoted line! Sorry, I could not figure out how to add it! Mrs. Nagel added my signature for me.
Please continue reading, writing, and working on life skills. Play outside, enjoy the warm weather months, and please, please, please continue spending memorable moments together as a family! When this is over our academic accomplishments will not be at the top of list. Not because we did not continue to grow and learn but because we learned what matters most. Creating heart memories is what will carry us through.
If you have any questions or concerns, or need anything, I am available through the summer.
Prayers and Blessings,
Mrs. Holliday

Good morning,
I was unable to log into Weebly yesterday. I am still unsure what the problem was.
Report cards will be posted tomorrow. After much deliberation, staff discussions, and some simple research, it was decide grades 1 and 2 would go to a Pass/Fail option for the last nine weeks. If you have any questions please contact me.
Expect some mail the end of next week. I have a surprise!
Enjoy your day! It is going to be a stormy one! I like a good storm now and then. It clears my spirit and I often find it rejuvenating.
Prayers and Blessings,
Mrs. Holliday

Good morning,
Did you treat your mamas well yesterday? I hope so! They are very special people!
Tomorrow is our last day of first grade! Just because school is over does not mean the learning stops. I have said several times, please continue to read, read, and read some more! It is so very important to continue working on this! You have all improved so very much and you are very ready to take on the challenges of second grade. It is going to be tough but remember to be willing to take on the challenge and not to worry about getting it wrong. That is how we learn!
You will still have access to I Ready over the summer. This is another great resource to continue working on those math skills. Please take advantage of this opportunity. This will also give you a jump start into second grade. The I ready program will provide you with assignments in areas you struggle without me doing anything. It is amazing how it knows what you need to work on! (Previous scores on I Ready practice provides this information.) I love this program and feel it is an excellent component of our math curriculum.
Have a wonderful day!

Good morning,
I hope you all enjoyed your day, yesterday! I loved watching my favorite movie, again. I saw some great pictures and some very delicious snacks.
We are winding down. It is hard to imagine that. I went to school last night to pack up much of your things. It was a very empty there. Most things were just how we had left it on March 13. Strange and nothing like any of us thought first grade would end.
Okay. Enough of sad.
I do feel we did finish the year strong. You did your best and worked hard. I will be sending a note home about how far you have come and things to continue working on over the summer.
Enjoy your Friday! Have a restful weekend!
I will be back Monday morning to remind you of the plans for the week!

Good morning,
Hopefully, your balloon pop reveals something good to do indoors! It is a cloudy, wet morning! I popped mine! It says look at pictures and old family videos! I am looking forward to spending some time doing that, later!
Please check out Mrs. Weigand's Art Weebly page. We are making cards for Mr. John, who is retiring, and Mr. McKim, who is returning to retirement. You may bring them on May 12th when you come to pick up your bag of goodies.
I have all of the workbooks graded and ready to return, along with your journals. Thank you for all of your hard work! It made my grading much easier! I enjoyed reading your journals. I wrote some comments!
Have a good day! It might be a good day to spend some extra time curled up and reading! Don't forget Typing Club!

Good morning!
I really enjoyed visiting with you yesterday! It was good to hear your voices, your chatter, and see your excitement! Some of you took on my challenge and did some puddle jumping and mud stomping. Be sure to check out the pictures on the photo page!
It looks like a dreary, rainy day. I think it is going to be a good day to bake and read. Those are going to be my plan! What are you going to do?
No matter what you choose, make it a good day!

Good morning!
It is a beautiful morning, even with the sprinkles! The grass is very green and the leaves are popping open on the trees! Have you noticed? There dandelions in full yellow! They are a wonderful plant for the bees. Have you seen things popping up out of the ground? Maybe you have tulips around your place or other flowers awakening from the long winter. And then we have the birds! Not only have they been singing they are building! Some are not making wise choices of where they are building. I saw the reddest cardinal I have ever seen in my spruce tree. He was loud and proud of his color! Take a walk later today and notice all of God's gifts. They are certain to warm your heart and brighten your spirits!
Today you turn in your math books, your Superkids workbook, your journal, and your decodable reader. Thank you in advance for completing these assignments. I will be returning everything except for the decodable reader. The good thing is you will have access to the Superkid website until June 1. Take advantage of that and read some of the stories and Super Dupers.
Tomorrow, Wednesday, April 29th, I am scheduling a Zoom meeting. Hopefully this will give us an opportunity to see each other if all goes as planned. I scheduling them for 11 am and 7 pm. It would be awesome to see you at one or both. Whatever works for you. This is my first time hosting so please be patient. You will need to load the Zoom app on your I pad, phone, or computer if it has a camera and microphone. It took me some time to do this so please try and do it before time. I will send you a log in number for the meeting and a passcode. If all goes as planned we will see each other tomorrow! I believe I will send you the log in information in a text. That seems to be the fastest way to reach all of you.
Get on those keyboarding skills with Typing Club! See my message on today's Distance Learning Page! Have a good day! Enjoy the sights and sounds of spring! I know I am!

Good morning!
Happy Earth Day! If we were in class we would be spending a lot of time outdoors today. Hopefully, you will some opportunity to do the same at home. One of things we would have done would be our Silent Reading outdoors. You can do this at home. If it is chilly, take a blanket! That is my plan!
Mrs. Weigand sent out a message yesterday. She now has a Weebly page for art. Please visit and explore! She has some great ideas! I have the link on my enrichment page.
Please remember to continue practicing typing club at least twice a week. Each time should be for 20 minutes or more. This is an important skill you will need in the future, such as in third grade!
Thank you for sending pictures! I love seeing your faces!

Good morning! It is chilly but the sun is shining! I started my day with a brisk walk outdoors!
This is the last week you will be working in your workbooks. All workbooks will need to be returned on April 28th. You may also return your decodable reader. Any work we have to do with it, if there is any, will be online.
The plan is assignments this week and a few next week for grades. The week of May 5th will be adapted fun stuff that we would be doing in the classroom, as our countdown to the end of the school year. May 12th will be dropping off anything I need back, which would be the decodable reader if you did not return it on the 28th, and picking up a bag from me. This bag will include what is left of yours at school along with some surprises from me!
You are 10 days of distance learning away from being a Second Grader!!! This is not how any of us planned but your are going out strong! I am very proud of all of you!
Have a wonderful day!

Good morning! The sun is shining and the weather should be delightful this week! When at school, and only 10 days left, we usually start a countdown. These days are very different than school days. I will start our countdown next week, at 7 days. Work hard this week, get your assignments finished, and maybe get ahead on your I Ready. I know some of you have completed your I Ready! How awesome is that! Have a wonderful day! Prayers and Blessings, Mrs. Holliday ( Notice the date: 4/20/2020 Lots of 20's!) |

Thank you for all the pictures, videos, and text messages! I love seeing and hearing about what you are all doing! I am doing happy dances and shedding a few tears. This is not how things usually go or are supposed to go, but, I think you are all doing a great job! Prayer petitions: Please keep Maeve and her family in your prayers. Mrs. McCully's mom passed away. Prayers for peace and comfort during this difficult time. Hope your day goes well! Prayers and Blessings, Mrs. Holliday |
Afternoon Update: Senora Holliday has added a Weebly page with all the links students use in Computer Lab. It is all for enrichment. You can find the link on my Enrichment Page and on the Website Links page. Typing Club still should be done at least twice a week.

Good morning!
I updated the picture of my lilac bush. Slow and steady! It reminds me of how things are right now. Slow and steady. Nothing is moving as fast as it once did, nor as fast as we would like it to. Remain steady. With peace and patience, we will be back where we were, and with that, hopefully not. Hopefully we remember high points of this time. Slow. Time to enjoy moments and thankful when we get to spend time with each other. Slow. A schedule that does not have us constantly moving here to there without much breath in between. Opportunity. Time to just stop and notice life around us. The parts that change often without us even noticing. Much like my lilac bush. If you want to see how much it has changed since March 24, look at the two pictures on the drop down page, Lilac Bush. What else do you notice has changed? The grass? Field? Maybe you notice what has not changed?
Have a wonderful Monday!

Thank you for all of your help and support during this week! You have done a wonderful job with completing the assignments, asking questions, and being creative! I appreciate your feedback and suggestions.
Please remember, as we go through this next month and the first week of May, this was our winding down time in the classroom. We would have been and will be finishing our SuperKids program at the end of April. You have received the last lessons in math. I am planning, as if we were in the classroom, to be doing mostly enrichment and reteaching of skills we have learned throughout the school year. This means more creating and fun things. Many of these things you can already find on the Enrichment Page. Since we are finishing two weeks sooner, that means you will get these things sooner.
I have added another page to the drop down list on Virus Days 2020. It is called Turn It In. This will be the list of everything that needs to be completed by April 28th. Hopefully, this is helpful to you. I will update it as I add assignments. I have also archived the letter I sent home on March 13th. I am leaving the Holy Week tab. There are a lot of good ideas that can be used on Sundays, too!
Another thing I have done is just include the lessons for the week, instead of breaking them down by days I am breaking them down by subjects. You all of your own schedules and time frames. This way, you can create your own schedule. This would be a wonderful activity to do with your child. We learn about making lists and plans in class. Let them help you create the plan. This can be as basic or precise as you would like it. I am leaving that up to you.
Have a wonderful Easter! I will be back on here come Monday morning. If you need anything, please text me!

Good morning!
The sunrise is beautiful! I hope you have a moment today to stop and take in some of God's gifts!
Please check the Enrichment Page. I have added a couple of read alouds from our very own St. Augustine students! Enjoy!
If you have not taken the opportunity to sign up for Lenten Adventures, please do. They offer some short, understandable explanations for Holy Week. Also see the drop down tab, Holy Week, 2020.
I am guessing I will have more to share with you later today.
Prayers and Blessings,

Good afternoon on this Palm Sunday!
Here are some updates.
--Always check this page first!
--I will post the lessons for the week by Friday night. All lessons will be due the following Monday. (Except this
week. Sorry. The announcement of school being closed for the rest of the year was stressful and sad.)
--Since school is closed for the remainder of the year, workbooks will be turned in on April 28th. Please have all
assigned work completed.
--Teachers and staff will be meeting tomorrow, April 5th. The above two statements will probably change.
--Assignments will be listed, by the week, on a drop down tab, under Virus 2020.
--You may work ahead. Please remember to do the work in order. On the assigned days please remember to do
attendance for each day.

Reflex and Typing Club. Always try and read 20 minutes each day! What you are reading for SuperKids can count

Good morning,
It is April 1. Wow!
I am working on putting together plans for our official start to E Learning, which begins Tuesday, April 7th. You will need to be sure to check in for attendance starting next week..
Please have your SuperKids reading and workbook pages completed by April 7th. You will start your lesson with a quiz over this material.
SuperKids is doing a wonderful job adding items that I can assign online. I looking forward to using these resources. My goal is not to have you drop papers off. I want to honor your time and try to keep things as convenient as possible. You all have different schedules and at this moment, I feel this will work best.
Each week I would like to meet with your child, either through Zoom or a phone call. It is also possible we could use an app called, Marco Polo. I have been using this with my grandchildren and it is working well. Please send me a text or email, letting me know what you prefer. I understand your daily schedules change often. I am flexible and changing meeting times daily, if needed, is okay. The purpose of this phone call would be to check in, hear some stories, and listen to some reading.
Another thing I would like you to look at is Google docs. This is a free program. The older students use Google Classroom at school. This is part of that. If you could access it this would be a great way to share writings. Please check into it and let me know your thoughts. As for sending me these writings, I am okay if you type what your child is saying. Some of the students are farther along in keyboarding than others.
This leads me to Keyboarding. Senora Holliday has sent home the log in information for this. It is very important for third grade and state assessments that they continue working on this skill. They should be practicing their keyboarding, at the very least, 20 minutes, twice a week.
Thank you for all you are doing. I love receiving the emails, texts, and pictures! You are doing a great job being creative and incorporating learning throughout your day. You have an unique opportunity to teach your children beyond the textbooks. I feel this generation is going to be beyond former groups in their ability to take on real world problems and to be doers and problem solvers. They are getting real life lessons, with your guidance, that I cannot teach in the classroom. This supports what I would tell them often. "You are always learning. You don't just have to be sitting at a desk with a textbook to learn. There are opportunities to learn, experience, and do something all around us. We just have to keep our eyes and minds open so we don't miss those opportunities. We have to be willing to make mistakes and try again. This is the best way to learn and grow."
Have a wonderful day! Continued prayers and blessings as we move through these uncharted waters!

Monday, March 30, 2020 Good evening! You received a School Speak today. We have a scheduled times for you to come to school and pick up bags. First grade has bags to pick up! They include your Social Studies Book, Super Binder, your Journal, your art supplies, some paper, your playdoh, watercolors, glue, and glue sticks. Please be sure to pick up your bag. Currently, I have no plans that you will need to return work to school. All of my work will be online. I feel it is currently safer and easier for all of us. Have a wonderful evening! Prayers and Blessings, Mrs. Holliday |
Copy of the School Speak about picking up items.
Good afternoon! PreK to grade 5 teachers are organizing items for pick-up this week. These items will be available on Tuesday, March 31st and Thursday, April 2nd from 10 am to 12 pm and 5 pm to 6 pm. We ask that you enter the school parking lot via the north entrance (just as you do for morning drop off). Stop near the gym door and wait in your car for someone to bring materials to you. For everyone's safety, we cannot have parents and/or students in the school at this time. Since these items are for next week, we suggest materials be left alone in the bags for 3 to 5 days to help ensure that no cross-contamination occurs. In addition, many students have paper assignments to turn in to teachers, know that there will be bins in which to place completed items. When placing items in the bins, we ask that you take precautions to prevent the spread of the virus by wearing gloves when touching the bins. Our distance learning will look different for each grade level, but overall, teachers will be operating on a Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday schedule. All assignments will be due the following Monday by noon. As always, reach out if you have any questions or concerns. Stay safe and God bless! St. A Faculty and Staff |

Happy Sunday evening to you all! I hope your were able to enjoy today. The weather wasn't great but I started my day with a live stream of Mass, led by Mrs. Nagel's brother-in-law, Fr. Rick. His parish is in Indianapolis. It was rejuvenating and an opportunity to stay in touch with others of the faith community. Do you realize we only have two more weeks of Lent and then the joyous celebration of Easter? It is hard to stay in touch with time when all the days tend to run together.
Tomorrow, Monday, March 30th, your St. Augustine teachers and staff will be meeting, remotely, to plan for April and E Learning. I have spoken with several of you over the past few days. Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts and concerns. I can't stress enough your family and your child's overall mental health is our top priority. This challenging time plays a role in more than just academics. As I mentioned, in the post below, these little beings will rise above all of this. They are going to be a stronger, kinder, more giving, and patient generation. What a way to learn that things are constantly changing around us? No matter how much we plan, God has the ultimate power.
After our staff meeting, tomorrow, I will update you on what I learn and on the plan. As with all things, we will not have it "nailed down" tomorrow. It will be an evolving and changing plan. Patience and communication will be vital. It will be later in the day before I get back to this page. Have a wonderful start to your day, tomorrow.
Prayers and Blessings to all!
Mrs. Holliday
This is a long post! Parts of it will be reposted in the future as we move forward with E Learning, starting April 6th.
March 27, 2020
Good morning,
Mrs. Nagel has been sharing information and experiences from teachers around the world. During this time of uncertainty it is important we remember the whole child, not just academic learning. A thought that has been repeated, numerous times, is we should provide valuable and engaging learning experience while not adding to the stress level of the child and family. You know your child best. You know your family best. My thoughts are to set out expectations, with flexibility. Please, offer feedback. This will be the only way to improve the plan and move forward.
We will be meeting, as a staff, next week. If you have any thoughts please share them with me. My focus is on the first grade child. There will be certain lines we will have to stay inside of, but, overall, we can be flexible.
So far, here are my(our) thoughts:
1. E Learning will be three days a week, Tuesday-Thursday.
2. Each day will be about 60-90 minutes.
3. Tuesday and Wednesday will focus on reading, writing, and math.
4. Thursday will be science and or social studies.
6. All assignments will be due on Mondays by noon.
7. Religion will be daily. I will continue to post resources and thoughts. (This is what is going to get us through all of this.) Faith in Action!
8. I will have an enrichment page because I am always finding fun and exciting things to share. I don't want to stop that.
I will be utilizing Zoom, for video conferencing, and Google Classroom. Don't panic. I am just now experimenting and learning about these things, too. This will be a new adventure for a lot of us! Go ahead and check into them.
My thoughts and concerns:
1.This class is very strong when it comes to math. I will be relaxing there and letting I Ready and Reflex do most of the work. Even if your child struggles with certain concepts these two programs are a great support.
2.Reading is very big in first grade. I want to keep moving forward! This is going to require your help at home. I am planning on listening to your child read to me. How we do that will be through Zoom and/or other methods. It is a work in progress.
3.This group struggles with writing. Our goal is going to be slightly different from if we were in the classroom. That goal will be to get our thoughts on paper, so that others understand what we are trying to say. Once again, video conferencing, mailing letters, and journal writing are going to play a huge part in this. And once again, a work in progress.
4.We need to see each other. This could be through Zoom, pictures, separately, or as a group. We will be working on this.
5. Don't worry about next year. We already know we will be doing teaching and reteaching, not just summer slide. It is not just us. It is all schools throughout the country. Our primary concern should be our health and overall well being. I am not worried about next year. Please, don't you worry either. Enjoy the slow down and opportunity to reconnect as a family. Do those things, that before you were so busy and tightly scheduled, you didn't have time for. It is going to be okay!!!
The next thing I need to do is set some times for these video conferences. I can be flexible and available on Mondays and Fridays along with the scheduled days. Please, so I can coordinate, send me some times that will work for you. Give me a wide range. I believe I will be able to get something together that will work for all of us. Check out Zoom. I have heard great things about it and what I have explored it seems very doable. It is going to take me some time to put together a schedule so the sooner you can look at that and send me some times it would be appreciated. You can either text, 219-204-1002, or email, [email protected].
We are also trying to set up a pick up for materials needed from school. The tentative plan is we will bag everything up and you will need to drive by and pick them up. I will know more about this after we meet. I will be sending home art boxes, along with glue sticks and liquid glue, among other things. I will warn you, crayons are not in the best shape. We are very hard on our crayons! I also will be sending paper, lots of paper!
Thank you for your time, patience, and support. This has been a year like no other. We are and will get through it together, stronger and better than before. I am thankful I get to travel it with all of you. You are a great group of people. Thank you for trusting me. It is all going to be okay!
Prayers and Blessings,
Mrs. Holliday

Good morning,
Today's picture is from my lilac bush. This is my favorite, maybe because it is my favorite color! I cut it way back last year hoping to make it more bushy. I am far from being a Master Gardener. I am very excited to see the green buds appearing! It is for me, a sign of hope and Spring! It also reminds me of how we are in the season of Lent. How are your Lenten promises going? Did you change them due to the current situation? If so, that is okay! Lent is a time for change and bringing ourselves closer to God. I changed mine. Have a good day!

Today's view is not what I was anticipating on this date. It is obvious I am not at the beach.
Mrs. Nagel has been posting a lot of fun and enriching activities to School Speak and Facebook. Please take some time and check them out! Owen and his family are enjoying them. Have a wonderful day!

Today is World Down Syndrome Awareness Day! People all across the world are wearing crazy socks in honor and to bring awareness about Down Syndrome. The reasoning behind crazy socks and March 21:
Socks, when hanging, look like chromosomes. March 21, 3-21, three parts on the 21st chromosome. When you have 3 parts on the 21st chromosome you have Down Syndrome. My shining star is below, Chance. We started our journey October 17, 1998. It has not always been easy, but, I would not trade it for anything. Chance has taught me so many things. I am who I am today because of him. I hope you all have the opportunity to meet him and get to know him. He is pretty amazing, of course, I am a little bias! Have a wonderful Saturday!
Prayers and Blessings,
Mrs. Holliday
P.S. Send me pictures of you wearing your crazy socks! I will share them! First Grade Rocks Their Socks!!!!

Good morning,
It is our first official day of spring break! Even though it is still dark outside, I have my window open, listening to the early morning sounds. It is one of those days where it is going to be warmer now than later!
Yesterday it was announced all Indiana schools will be closed through May 1. Please know all the teachers at St. Augustine will be meeting to plan the best possible remote education we can provide. This makes it very important that the work currently assigned, in your workbooks, is completed by April 6. I will be starting at that point. This is new territory for many of us. Think of it as a mission to conquer and be better than when we started. I know I am going to learn many things, especially in the area of technology. Video conferencing and Facetime? These are things I have definitely avoided!
Parents I ask for your prayers and patience. I also ask of what I ask your students to do on a daily basis. Take some risks. Don't be afraid. It is okay if we don't get it all right the first time. It is how we learn. I will be reminding myself of this often, I am sure.
We, as a staff, are not sure how it is all going to work. We are going to be planning and figuring it out in the upcoming days. Please be patient. Don't panic. We are in this together and will learn together! We will work through kinks and make changes as we go. Flexibility is going to be a very necessary component.
Have a peaceful day! Take care of each other. Enjoy the simple quiet moments. This time can be an unexpected gift. It all depends on our perspective.
Prayers and Blessings,
Mrs. Holliday

Good morning!
Happy First Day of Spring!
Below is a Button Link to Fr. Rick Nagel's Celebration of the Mass, yesterday. Fr. Rick is the brother in law of our fourth grade teacher, Mrs. Nagel.
Above is a wonderful idea to help those in our community and to fulfill our Lenten giving. What a kind way to spread some joy.
My mind is quiet today. That is good. It will give me some peace and time to listen for what God is wanting me hear. Have a wonderful and peaceful day!

Good morning,
All new tabs, during this time, will be under Virus 2020.
No beach escape for my family. We are going to follow the rules and stay safe at home. That means, because I miss you and I have a routine, I will probably check in with you most days!
Thank you Owen B. and Olivia for the pictures! I have started a tab for all to enjoy! I have added some of my pictures of our day here, too! If you need a smile, Chance is always happy to share!
Mrs. Hopkins discovered several of you have forgotten your workbooks. First, let me apologize for not triple checking bags as we left Friday. It got a little crazy there at the end. If you need to go get your books first thing in the morning is best. Ms. Deanna or Mr. John are usually there. You might get lucky and also catch one of the local teachers. Just walk around and bang on a door. They will let you in to get what you need. Don't worry about library books. All lateness is being waived.
My inbox and Facebook feed have been overloaded with learning at home ideas. Of course, most is online. Some of it is really good! If you choose you may access some of these sites. I have started a new tab, Enrichment Online, with the links. Another tab I have includes the letter Senora Holliday sent. She is strongly encouraging students to continue keyboarding practice. This is another of those life skills needed for education. Along with the letter is the log in information. Please practice keyboarding at least twice a week. We don't want to loose our momentum here. Keyboarding is a vital part of state testing in third grade.
All masses have been cancelled across the state, by order of the Bishops. What are you doing to live your faith? Have a you created a Prayer Table? Started your own book of petitions? How are your Lenten promises going? We are definitely being asked to offer up some sacrifices during this time.
Have a wonderful day! Do you have your plans already? I made my list. I am painting! My Walmart shipment of paint arrives today. My husband is also hoping Chance's E Learning includes making some cookies!
Prayers and Blessings,
Mrs. Holliday

Happy Saint Patrick's Day!
Do you need a journal writing idea? Venture outside in your yard today. Do you see any signs of spring? Hear any signs? Smell any signs? How does it make you feel? Write about it. You can also add a picture.
Mrs. Holliday's Journal Entry
There are many signs of spring in my area of the world. The sights, smells, and sounds are growing daily. My trees are starting to bud. The birds are singing loudly. They fly quickly, in and out of the trees. I am imagining they are looking for the perfect spot to build their nests. A group of rabbits are playing tag around my pine tree. The smell of fresh air and rain fills my soul with hope. I pray for peaceful hearts and calm minds. These simple things can be healing gifts from God.
Remember when you write to use interesting words. Have a wonderful day.

The smell of fresh air and rain fills my soul with hope. I pray for peaceful hearts and calm minds. These simple things can be healing gifts from God.
Remember when you write to use interesting words. Have a wonderful day.

Good morning. Daily updates to this page will be completed by 10 am. Please remember: Official spring break is March 20th-29th. I will respect your time during break and ask you do the same for me. Together, we will get through this.
I have assigned I Ready lessons. These work more closely with the Lesson 22 pages.
Feel free to have your child log into I Ready and Reflex. When they get onto I Ready, have them do the assigned lessons first. Need reading material? I have opened SuperKids up through Unit 14. They can read any of the books or magazines. They often enjoy these at school.
If your child wants to be online and you are okay with it, we have posted several educational sites on the school Facebook page and School Speak. Many companies are opening up their sites to help support learning. You may also work on Reflex and the National Geographic Kids is also fun and interesting.
How are the family dinner plans going? Have you been outside? What are your favorite board/card games? These would all be great topics to consider writing a journal entry about.
I am planning on creating a photo page for this event. You can email/text me your photos of what you are doing. I will share yours and mine. Any student want to read aloud to me? Sing our morning songs? Video and send to me and I will post them on this page! this way, we can see each other and maybe share some ideas of how things work best for you and help someone else! Now, keep in mind, this is always a learning curve for me and until I refigure it out, please be patient!
Hands on Learning Opportunities: teach how to plan and cook a meal, check the oil in the car(I was their age when I learned this), clean out the car, do laundry, sew on a button, deep clean, write a letter to a nursing home and mail it, bake cookies, work together picking up sticks, have a campfire with sticks collected, learn the correct way to set a table, have a formal tea party, plan a garden, plan the day using the clock, make a to do list of what they want to do and need to do with the opportunity to complete the list, write highlights of the day on the calendar, pray, create a prayer table, start a prayer petitions notebook like we have at school, etc.
Not all learning is done in a classroom!
Report Cards have been published.
Feel free to text me if you have any questions. 219-204-1002.

Well, three weeks of spring break mixed in with some assignments to keep our learning momentum moving forward!
Your child brought home their math books and SuperKid books today, along with a note from me. Please excuse the errors. I started the letter first thing this morning. From the first draft to the copy sent home it was edited four times! The main issue being these are not technically e learning days, per the decision of the public school. We agreed, as a staff, we needed to have something to keep the learning moving forward. Three consecutive weeks of nothing was not a good idea, especially for our older students who would be returning to statewide testing.
I tried to simplify it as much as possible. I gave you a wide time frame for completion. Please do not worry or panic. Do what you can and I will reteach and practice when we return to school. Please find what I hope to be helpful hints and thoughts below.
--The math instruction book and the practice book work together. We typically use the instruction book first and then do the corresponding page in the practice book.
--All directions for the Word Workbook pages can be found along the side, in the small print.
--Most importantly, please be sure your child continues to read! We have come so far this year. It is too early for a summer slide to set in.
==Senora Holliday did send the link and log in information for Typing Club. You should have received this through School Speak.
==Report Cards will be posted on Monday.
I realized I deleted the part of my note about the silver lining. During this time we are expected to stay home, with our families. Use this time to slow down. Enjoy family time together. Cook together, dine together, and maybe bring out the board games. All these are life skills that I cannot teach at school. I see this time as a gift and possibly God's way to get us to focus on what is really important. Our readings, for Mass today, were about God's gifts. We talked about how we often take those gifts for granted followed by the question: Do you realize all the gifts you have received today? Take time to recognize them and be thankful. (Don't let technology become your main source of connection. This is why I sent books home instead of posting daily assignments.)

My son and grandchildren are off during this time, too. I am hoping to escape to the beach during our official spring break days. I am planning to spend most of my time doing what I am asking of you. I do plan to occasionally drop in here and say hi and maybe share some thoughts or things. If you do have any questions or concerns, please let me know. Text would be best. 219-204-1002
